A game of golf with Tiger Woods would be Gary Lineker's ideal way to spend a Saturday.
Gary Winston Lineker was born on November 30, 1960, in Leicester. He began his football career in 1978, signing for his hometown team, before moving to Everton for the 1985-86 season.
Gary then played for Spanish giants Barcelona, but returned to the UK in 1989, signing for Tottenham Hotspur.
Since retiring in 1994 after a spell in Japan, Lineker has become a successful presenter, fronting the majority of the BBC's football coverage, as well as this year's Ryder Cup golf tournament.
Gary provides the voice of CBeebies character Underground Ernie.
What’s your dream Saturday night?
"I work Saturday nights doing Match of the Day, so my dream would be to get lots of good games on there, with plenty of things to talk about, and for the show to go without a hitch."
What do you do to get ready for it?
"It's a long day. We usually get in to watch the early kick-off, then we have a really busy spell between 2.15pm and 3pm when I go over images from all the grounds to look for quirky things to talk about. After that, me and the pundits watch the games, then after the final whistle,
I write my script while watching the evening game, have something to eat, then do the show live. It's pretty full-on really, seat-of-the-pants TV."
If you could make one law for Saturday nights, what would it be?
"Everyone should be made to stay in and watch Match of the Day."
What’s the best Saturday night out you have ever had? And the worst?
"I had a few great nights out with Gazza when I was at Spurs. One time we ended up getting on a double-decker bus and he had everyone singing
Summer Holiday within minutes.
"Any night after you've lost a
big game is always terrible. The night of the 1986 FA Cup Final, when we (Everton) lost to Liverpool, immediately
springs to mind. It doesn't get much worse than that."
Who would you most like to spend your weekend with?
"Tiger Woods. Doing a programme on a Saturday night, then going for a game
of golf with him would be pretty cool. I'd let Alan Hansen play too, because he'd love that
as well."
Do you live for the weekend and free time?
"My free time is in the week really, but I love spending time with the kids on a Sunday. I go to watch them play whatever sport they're doing, football or cricket mainly. Free time in the week is great too - the golf courses are quieter for one thing."
What sort of a Sunday person are you?
"Mostly I'm a taxi driver, taking the kids to different matches and picking them up. I've got four boys - George, Harry, Tobias and Angus."
How do you handle hangovers?
"I'm not a huge drinker to be honest, so I don't get them very often. If I do have a hangover I just drink lots of water."
Which city is the best for nightlife and why?
"I've no idea any more, those days of going out in different cities are long, long behind me!"
What did you get up to last weekend and what are you doing this weekend?
"Last weekend we had a very late Match of the Day, so I didn't get in till gone 2am. On Sunday I watched my youngest play football, then, in the afternoon, took Tobias to cricket training with Surrey.
"Next weekend will be more of the same, although I have to vary which one I go to watch."
